Newel is a compassionate, sincere, and solutions-oriented therapist. He has worked with adolescents and adult individuals both in residential treatment and in outpatient private practice. He has extensive experience working with those struggling with addiction and other underlying mental health concerns. Newel has dedicated his career to providing exceptional care and implementing effective aftercare plans for those he has had the pleasure of serving. Newel has been honored to witness personal progress in the clients he has had the opportunity to work with over the last three decades. His ability to join his client with a nonjudgmental stance has allowed the people he has worked with to explore personal barriers to success and identify resources that will help them reach their goals.
Newel spent eight years working in a residential setting implementing recreational and experiential programming and groups. He enjoyed introducing clients to outdoor activities and facilitating recreational therapy through outlets such as rock climbing, hiking, ropes courses, equine therapy, skiing, and water sports. He served as a clinical director at an adolescent residential treatment center for 15 years. Newel is trained and experienced in Experiential Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as well as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). He has completed courses of study in compulsive behavioral therapy, grief counseling, trauma-informed therapy, adoption counseling, and addiction counseling. He knows that seeking change can be difficult; however, Newel has enjoyed guiding his clients through the process.
